Following Threads...a practice
In Vedic wisdom, the movement of the Grahas (planets) and the luminaries (Sun & Moon) is a center point of life. Each day, every month and season host prayer and sacred ritual that guide and instruct the very foundation of being.
Sometimes the cosmic constellations align powerful shifts. Depending on your own birth chart, you may feel them very uniquely. Right now we are readying for some shifts. August 12 will mark a full solar eclipse and powerful new moon and August 27/28 completes "eclipse season" with a lunar eclipse. This two week period of time is considered a time of poignancy, of going within and reflecting on what is ripe to change, let go of and welcome in.
As we age, reflection becomes an even more powerful tool. Using our life of experiences, knowledge and wisdom and taking time for deepening consideration is like finding that skeleton key that had been buried deep in the drawer, a mystery of unknown origin and finding its lock. Turning the key is to open a world of revelation and consideration, often not very easy, but necessary.
In the quiet of the eclipse season when the great luminaries have become obscured, the darkness that lives on the outside gives rise to the deeper and inner work of that which rises from within.
But how do we reach a thread? There are many ways. Here is a practice to consider to draw a thread forward:
Identify an area you wish to sit. Prepare the space. Candles, flowers, incense, a journal, all meant to engage and focus the senses. Take a moment here to pause. Soften your gaze, take a few breaths. Sit for a moment. Place hands at your heart. Honor your heart, your life, your spirit. Set boundaries that ask for a clear container of support through the benevolent guidance and for your highest good.
From here there may be something that steps forward. And if not, consider if there is something you are ready to let go of so that there is room for something to come in? Or maybe its the reverse question? Or maybe in the quiet, it might be a check in-a space that connects more deeply into heart, your rhythms, your inner voice?
You decide.
Also, I really like to write it down. It changes it, I think. It becomes an awareness that becomes alive when it stares back at us on a page. The words keeping track of that moment of heartfelt intention.
HERE is the Time & Date web page to track timing of the upcoming eclipses. I love to do this ritual during the exact time for potency and for grounding.
